Prior to founding Optimal Markets, Inc. Dr. Moshal was the Chief Technology Officer of @TheMoment, Inc., a provider of online auction technology to the electric power and petrochemical industries. There he designed, built and implemented technology which is used today to auction over $16 billion of goods and services per annum. Dr. Moshal has built experimental auction software for Professor Paul Milgrom of Stanford University to test 'next generation' auction designs.
Dr. Moshal has extensive experience in the design and development of real-time, event-based systems. Dr. Moshal founded Apricus, Inc. in 1996, serving as president and CTO for this provider of next-generation software for use in intensive care units. In addition, he has built several innovative graphical user interfaces - one of which was the subject of a book written by the late Jef Raskin, creator of the Apple Macintosh computer.
Dr. Moshal has a background in both medicine and engineering. He holds degrees in medicine from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, and biomedical engineering from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is also a graduate of the Royal College of Anesthetists, United Kingdom, and trained at hospitals such as Oxford, Bristol, and the Royal Brompton in London.
In 2001, InfoWorld Magazine named Dr. Moshal a "Top 100 CTO."
